Surprise!

Decided at the last minute to surprise my parents with a visit. What can I say.........
It worked!

You never know what you will see

I have a great commute and I have one friend who would really appreciate seeing pictures so I need to try and get some tomorrow if this happens again. I see the strangest things. For example tonight I saw a guy dressed as Santa. A few blocks later I saw a guy dressed like a Holstein cow taking a picture of the Holstein cow on the roof of a Philly cheesecakes joint. A few more blocks later, a guy dressed up like a six foot tall bar of gold. All of this within a six mile drive. You never know what you'll see so be sure to look around.

Not a fun week

Heart goes out to Newtown.   Nothing can be said to make it any better.

Good news from friends

 I'v been so so worried about some friends that really suffered from Sandy. They were hit very hard and need to find a new place to live. They found something. Around the corner from me. We're going to be neighbors again!!!!!

Happy holiday!

So glad to be in a better place both physically and mentally. Not quite where I need to be yet but getting closer. Problem is that every time I get that step nearer to being able to move on something pops up that drags me back in....not all the way...but enough to hurt...again. I just can't seem to break completely free. I've done everything they say to do but it just keeps coming back at me.
Bright spots over the past two weeks though! Friend from way back came up this way, unfortunately for a funeral, but she spent the night at my place so we had lots of time to catch up. Then a week later visitime with three more friends and had tons of laughs, Chinese food and a Dutch chocolate red wine that will be making it's way into several desserts and Ooooo! A MOLÉ!!!! Hot damn...when's the next visit!

Post Sandy....

I was so much luckier this year than last. Last year I was still in the house and lost everything in the basement. But aside from throwing out everything down there, which needed to be done anyway since I was moving out, and not having heat and hot water for two months, I was lucky. Had I been there this time, it would have been so much worse. I haven't been down there yet. I really don't want to. I do have friends there but they have been in touch. The area was hit very hard. I think the water would have come into the first floor this time. I miss having a house but I know it's better where I live now. I parked the car on the Friday before the storm and only moved it once since. I do have to start it tomorrow.
Friend is coming to stay for a night tomorrow. Haven't seen her for yeats so it will be fun catching up.
I think I'll be seeing two other friends next Saturday. Better check on it soon so I know for sure!

Last day to pack.

Finally. The last day I have for packing. After work tomorrow I head to the new place for a shareholder meeting and then Friday the movers. I so hope the rain holds off! With luck I'll be able to start more interesting posts. Mine to date have been extremely boring but I just needed to do something. Things are looking up and life is starting to get better. Yay! But I have to admit this has been tough. I was out of shape before but with the almost two months with my back problem it was even more so. I haven't been able to do any exercise and just feel like a schlub. My exercise bike is buried behind oodles of boxes and my step machine, the one thing I was able to use, has been broken down for the move. Can't wait to get settled and start unpacking. Some stuff was never even unpacked from move last move in Nov!

It's neverending

I renewed my Jeep registration the beginning of August but never put the sticker on. I thought something on it would change when I changed my address. But then one thing led to another and I wound up packing it. Naturally the rude awakening came today in the form of a $50 ticket.

Not happy

I started out having a decent day. Got a call that tbe painter has finished so I went and took a sneak peek........looks wonderful! Dinner with friends was good too. But then I got home. I had closed the windows before I left this morning so it was pretty warm in the apartment when I got home. The bad part was that I looked and saw the refrigerator door head popped open at some point. It was 50 degrees in there. I'm going to have to throw out everything dairy and even some non dairy which is really annoying. Grrrr!

Nasty weather!

I so love the occasional storm but the tornados have to stop. Looking forward to the fall-like weather that we were expecting the rest of this week because I still need to pack so much before moving next week. Between the bad back and the heat and humidity I've doing a mad rush to get everything done. I even ran out of boxes. I have the energy so I think after laundry tonite I'll get a garbage bag and go thru the pantry to see what has expired. Found something canned the other day that expired in 2007! Can't wait to see how the plastering and painting are coming along!

Moving

OK so I'm not good at this yet. Only one post since I started. But things have been busy. I've been home hunting and regrouping. I also spent from the 4th on July slowly trying to recover from the worst back pain that I have ever ever felt. I don't know what I did but I woke with pain radiating from the small of my back that had me in tears. Of course this had to be right when an offer I made on a place got accepted and I had to start packing! Luckily I never unpacked when I moved into a huge rental temporarily. This place is nice but just not for me. I need my own. I'll be moving in less than two weeks back to where I want to be.  I gladly give up the perks of this place to be, with family and friends. I've made a few "friendlies" here and one friend.

Oh just a happy day!!!

My very first post and it's appropriate that it's about meeting some friends later today.  I don't get to see them very often.  One in particular has been very supportive and helpful to me over the past year and a half,  more than she could ever know.  We're heading over the bridge for dinner and to dip our toes in the ocean!  It's absolutely beautiful out (Ooo pretty sky), wonderfully sunny, thankfully drier and just aahhhh!  I can already smell the salt air!

I never made it downstairs to do the laundry last night.  I was thinking about it the other day and decided strangely enough that I sort of miss my top-load washing machine.  The wash cycle had  really nice rhythm to it and on more than one occasion I found myself dancing to it.  They put in new front-loaders on Thursday so let's go see if they have any music in them.
